5 Woefully Cast Roles In Comic Book Movies

4. Keanu Reeves As John Constantine - Constantine

John Constantine. An English working class sorcerer with a mouth to match who bears a striking resemblance to Sting. A man who can literally outsmart the denizens of Hell as well as have sexual relations with a succubus. One of Alan Moore's truly everlasting creations (and there have been many) and one which has been treated with wonderfully by other great comic writers such as Mike Carey, Neil Gaiman and Warren Ellis. One would think then that there was plenty of source material from which a witty urbane actor could let this amazing comic book character to come to life on the silver screen. Apparently not... Instead we get Keanu Reeves in the role in what can only be described as a way to build up the movie's star power in the role. Reeves does have some attributes as an actor but anyone who saw Bram Stoker's Dracula will attest that playing Englishmen is not one of them. Nor is he able to be roguish and charming. What Reeves does do well is brood and so what we got instead was a down in the dumps American guy who seemed to see to view the world with a permanent sulk.
