16. The Good Dinosaur

The latter part of Pixar's one-two punch next year comes in the form of The Good Dinosaur, a charming-looking animation which revolves around an alternate reality whereby the dinosaurs were never exterminated, with protagonist Arlo (Lucas Neff), a sweet-natured Brontosaurus, trying to bring harmony to his community with the help of a human boy named Spot. Great though it sounds, the movie has had a bumpy ride making its way to viewers: original director Bob Peterson was removed last August as he was struggling to crack the third act, and was replaced with Peter Sohn, who directed the wonderful Pixar short Partly Cloudy. John Lithgow, who provides the voice of Arlo's father, meanwhile recently confirmed that much of the plot had been rejigged, and he and other actors would be returning to re-record much of their dialogue. The remaining cast includes Frances McDormand, Neil Patrick Harris, Judy Greer and Bill Hader, and though plenty of alarm bells are ringing about this production, it's still hard not to be excited about the fantastic potential it has.
