36. Batman Triumphant
After none of the planned Tim Burton Batman movies panned out, the franchise underwent a pretty massive change. Following the release of Batman Returns in 1992, WB decided to go in a different direction with filmmakers, and wound up replacing Tim Burton with Joel Schumacher and audiences ultimately got 1995's Batman Forever and 1997's horrendous Batman & Robin. Apparently before the release of the latter film, a few studio executives were impressed with the dailies and gave a would-be sequel the green-light on the spot. The film, titled Batman Triumphant, would have brought back most of the characters and actors of the previous film, including George Clooney as Batman, Chris ODonnell as Robin and Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl. They were also going to bring in some new characters as well. Most notably, the Material Girl herself, Madonna, was set to play the unhinged Harley Quinn. Thankfully, after Batman & Robin was released to dismal box-office returns and reviews the studio execs quickly realized the mistake they were about to make. They promptly pulled the plug.
