50 Comic Book Movies That Almost Got Made

2. The Amazing Spider-Man 3

When it was first announced a few months ago that Marvel Studios and Sony had reached an agreement which would allow Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all seemed right with the world. There are now endless webtastic possibilities for the web-slinger that weren't available before - whether he joins The Avengers or he simply gets to engage in witty banter with Rocket Raccoon. However, as great as everything seems, it was a little surprising that Sony had thrown in the towel and decided to reboot so soon; The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn't the commercial or critical hit they€™d hoped for, but it was also a long way off from being a flop. You would think that the studio might have given Andrew Garfield€™s Spider-Man at least one more chance, especially as there€™s so much they could have done to improve the quality of the franchise in the third movie (which had been slated for release in 2016). The Sinister Six movie that was initially slated for a release prior to The Amazing Spider-Man 3 would have made the list as well if it wasn't for the fact that it's apparently not "dead" but simply postponed. Whatever that means.
