Plot: After a serial killer (Choi-Min Sik) murders his fiancee, a secret service agent (Lee Byung-Hun) embarks of a sadistic campaign of revenge against him.

Many films have dealt with revenge - its allure, its futility and its destructive effects on all involved.

That being said, there are very few films that have tackled it with such harrowing ferocity as this South Korean nightmare. This nihilistic, gore-soaked and unrelentingly brutal thriller pulls no punches in delivering what is honestly one of the saddest, grimmest horror narratives you'll ever see which is also, better still, headlined by arguably two of the finest performances in horror history.

As a vengeful cop and a chilling serial killer, respectively, Squid Game's Lee Byung-hun and Oldboy's Choi Min-Sik give transcendentally brilliant performances that only make the film even more hard-hitting.

A hard watch this may be, but such is the power and depth of the experience that you might find yourself going back for more.
