Title Edit: Barbarian

Plot: A woman (the terrific Georgina Campbell) arrives at an Airbnb, only to discover that it's been double-booked and someone else (Bill Skarsgard) is already staying there.

Barbarian, the most recent movie to make this list, is a film where you should go in knowing as little as possible for this movie has so, so many unexpected tricks up its sleeve. The main thing you need to know is... this movie is absolutely killer.

A darkly hilarious, ferociously clever and completely terrifying horror-comedy thrill ride that never stops blowing your mind right up until the closing credits (and that is meant in a literal way, for the end credits boast an ingenious song choice), Barbarian is absolutely outstanding.

This is not just arguably the greatest horror movie of 2022 - a year that has been an absolutely great one for the genre, so that's no mean feat - but it's one of the best movies of the year full stop.
