50 Greatest Movie Villains Of The 21st Century

41. Stuntman Mike €“ Death Proof

Probably the only good thing to rise up out of this otherwise terrible grindhouse flick from Quentin Tarantino was antagonist Stuntman Mike. Played to perfection by Kurt Russell, Mike oozes sexual dominance and cruelty. Stuntman Mike is an aging Hollywood stuntman who (very sadistically) engineers a situation where he can kill four young women. As much as I hated Death Proof, Mike€™s death was a worthy pay-off.

40. Owen Davian €“ Mission Impossible 3

Mission Impossible 3 Philip Seymour Hoffman Philip Seymour Hoffman is a damn fine actor and his role in Mission Impossible 3 helped redeem this franchise from the first, rather lackluster sequel. Davian is a self-important, ruthless spy villain. By threatening the family of Ethan Hunt, he becomes a more personal antagonist than Sean Ambrose was in the last film. Hoffman€™s delightfully nonchalant performance makes the villain one of the more memorable spy baddies from the 21st century.

39. Frank Lucas €“ American Gangster

American Gangster Denzel Washington plays such a likable hero that he often makes for a shockingly unexpected villain. Nonetheless, in American Gangster, Washington delivers once again, this time as a murderous gangster. Frank Lucas is a frighteningly ruthless antagonist. Washington plays against Russell Crowe€™s protagonist brilliantly, making for strong conflict and many tension laced scenes. He is a powerful leader and is selfishly motivated. I wouldn€™t want to double cross him.
