50 Greatest Movie Villains Of The 21st Century

35. Mark Hoffman (Jigsaw) €“ Saw Series

Hoffman was the second Jigsaw in the long milked Saw franchise. Like Driver, his evil is largely elevated by the clear sadistic pleasure he gains from killing. I mean...isn€™t the Jigsaw character evil enough as it is? Unlike John Kramer, who preceded him, Hoffman does not kill to teach people lessons, but rigs his traps to kill the victim no matter how well they do. That is a whole new level of sick. Just watch the grotesque ending scene of Saw V and tell me this guy could be redeemed. He€™s a seriously sick puppy.

34. Syndrome €“ The Incredibles

The Incredibles Phew, a lighter entry already. Pixar did a bang up job parodying the superhero genre in The Incredibles. Syndrome is an excellently fun villain because he is a send up of the very people watching this film. Syndrome is Mr Incredible€™s biggest fan. He has tracked the character, memorised his quotes and even created his own persona as a sidekick. He is the modern comic book geek. Syndrome is a lot of fun to watch because his DNA is so well linked to geek culture. Jason Lee also has a really funny voice to listen to.

33. Fairy Godmother €“ Shrek 2

If you went and saw the last good Shrek film, you€™ll remember that this woman was a real selfish cow. She was downright obsessed with the idea that her son, Prince Charming, had to be the man to marry Princess Fiona, and she was willing to cheat a good ogre out of love to do so. Her manipulation and cruelty made her a real annoying villain to watch, which is great because some of the best villains are the ones we love to hate. Finally seeing her demise at the end of the film was largely satisfying...unlike anything that happened in the franchise afterwards.
