50 Greatest Musical Numbers In Film History

32. Whatever Lola Wants - Damn Yankees

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kjQmgm0r4g This is one of those scenes that you watch and frankly can't believe that they were able to show it back in 1958. It's essentially a striptease, with demon Lola attempting to seduce Joe into forgetting about his wife, so that he won't be interested in using the escape clause written into his Faustian bargain. Lola is evidently not used to having men turn her down, as she puts on an enticingly exotic accent as she sings and takes off several crucial articles of her clothing. Gwen Verdon (famously married to choreographer Bob Fosse and an underrated talent in her own right) begins slowly and seductively, but gradually becomes more frenetic and over the top as she is desperate to win over Joe Hardy, who remains devoted to his wife.

31. Movin' Right Along - The Muppet Movie

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMR5JVo21wQ The puns featured in this song alone make it worthy of this list. Sure, Rainbow Connection is more emotional, but what about the chill atmosphere of a couple of dudes on a cross country roadtrip? Because that's what Movin' Right Along has to offer, in the form of Kermit and Fozzie the Bear in an old Studebaker. They're on their way to find fame and fortune out in Los Angeles, and at least for this scene in the film, it plays out like a buddy roadtrip comedy. If you don't crack a smile at them driving past a literal fork literally sticking out of the road, you may not have a soul. This is a charming little number that might not change the world anytime soon, but if you click on the little video and watch it, you will be in a good mood for the rest of the day.
