8. Cell Block Tango - Chicago
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA6R1DMb-Z8 This is like the revenge anthem of musical theater, and it's glorious. Basically, it's a group of female convicts explaining why they killed their lovers, and their responses are incredibly memorable and darkly humorous. You've got a woman whose husband "ran into her knife ten times" and another who caustically commented after admitting to poisoning her boyfriend, "some guys just can't hold their arsenic." It's hard to hear these kinds of killer lines and the fierce dancing that accompanies them and not at fall in love with the sequence a little bit. And yeah, they probably did have it coming. 7. Heaven On Their Minds - Jesus Christ Superstar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-voeq7Cebo Heaven on Their Minds is the opening number in Jesus Christ Superstar, and aside from being an amazing rock song (something that a lot of people try in musicals but rarely succeed), it establishes what the audience should expect from the film. Despite the fact that Jesus's name is in the title, the film is just as much about Judas, if not more. This number is about his internal conflict regarding the direction that Jesus is headed in. He doesn't agree with his friend and leader, and finds himself increasingly isolated as the worshipping yes men continually surround Christ. Carl Anderson plays Judas in this version, and he pours his heart into this soul-rattling performance.
