50 Huge Movie Characters That Were Completely Miscast
18. Chloƫ Grace Moretz As Carrie White - Carrie
There are plenty of entries on this list where an actor has fallen short when it comes to bringing the right amount of charisma to a role, though this one is different. Here we have the exact opposite.
Eyebrows were raised at the announcement of a Carrie remake, but with Chloƫ Grace Moretz, one of the most popular young actors at the time, there was at least some intrigue. Turns out however, she was completely wrong for the role in that she was actually too likeable.
In the 1976 original, Sissy Spacek played Carrie exactly as she needed to be - a socially outcast, awkward loner, bullied and victimised by her entire class. In the remake however, it was truly hard to see this version of Carrie as any of that, as Moretz brought too much personality to the table. It was difficult to buy her as a social pariah at any level.
Julianne Moore played her part in the story perfectly, but even with such a twisted mother, there was something off about Carrie herself. The actor grew into the role and was able to give a much more convincing performance as she learned about and embraced her powers, but by that point it was arguably too late.
