M. Night Shyamalan has some outstanding movies to his name, and in 1999 created the granddaddy of all plot twists in The Sixth Sense. At the other end of that spectrum however, is his latest and poorest effort, Trap.

The plot, which sees Josh Hartnett's Cooper, also known as the serial killer The Butcher, get trapped at a concert with his daughter. It is entirely predictable, which isn't something you could say about a Shyamalan movie too often, and includes some truly underwhelming performances. One from Hartnett himself, and another from M. Night Shyamalan's daughter, Saleka.

A successful musician in her own right, Saleka played Lady Raven. It was at her concert that Cooper and his daughter got trapped, and while this was the case, she was everything she needed to be. A musician acting as a musician isn't really acting at all. However, when the story left the concert, and brought Lady Raven into close quarters with Cooper, things fell apart.

She became an incredibly important part of the narrative, but the singer simply doesn't have the acting chops to carry the scenes she needed to. This was supposed to be a thriller, but there was no believability or credibility to the more intimate moments where it mattered most, and it became very obvious that this was a case of nepotism with nothing to back it up.
