Given the track record literary reinvention movies have had recently - the likes of I, Frankentsein, Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters and Abraham Lincoln Hunter all being utter, utter dross, in other words - this one should perhaps be met with a little trepidation. But at least the cast - which includes Game Of Thrones pair Lena Headey and Charles Dance among many others - looks solid.

As long as they get the blend of comedy, authentic period features and gore, it should be good fun, and the source material managed it impressively. It's all about balance and respecting the material (even while lampooning it), rather than making something as appallingly disrespectful as the Scary Movie "spoofs" and their ilk.
