27. Pete€™s Dragon

However you might feel about Disney's manifesto to remake a good slice of their classic animated films, there's no denying that there will be a significant fanbase who respond to some of the more major ones (as happened with the live action Cinderella).

Pete's Dragon is a slightly different prospect: the tale of a boy and his dragon is one of Disney's more cult offerings - alongside the likes of The Black Cauldron and Basil: The Great Mouse Detective - but the original was a hugely charming thing and a watershed moment in live-action/animation mix. It's slightly frustrating that Disney have chosen to go with CGI for Elliot the dragon, rather than the hand-drawn method, but the promise of reinvention (without the musical numbers) hopefully means it will exist alongside the original rather than trying to replace it.

Fingers firmly crossed.
