50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2016 - Ranked

16. Warcraft

Putting aside the nagging suspicions that the first big screen tie-in to the behemoth World Of Warcraft franchise is going to crib heavily from Avatar, there is a massive weight of expectation on the movie, which should find some confidence in Duncan Jones' tenure as director.

He may only have Moon and Source Code to his name, but in a short time, he's already established himself as a visionary with a striking imagination and all the story-telling tools needed to expand out to an epic. He's going to need them: this large scale mash-up of Romeo & Juliet and Lord Of The Rings poses unique problems thanks to its heavy CGI use, but it scores points immediately for the vision suggested in the trailer and for giving hot prospect Travis Fimmell his first real A-list job since Vikings.

There's a lot of promise - hence the high billing - but there's equally a lot to be potentially concerned about. Therein lies the appeal of the gamble.
