Following the same trend of straight-laced/anti-hero buddy cop movies that have cut a rich vein through cinematic history, Disney's second alternate evolution story within a single year (after The Good Dinosaur) looks like another solid swing for the fence.

Simpsons veteran and Wreck-It-Ralph scribe, Rich Moore, and Pocahontas and Tangled director Byron Howard have combined to imagine a world where anthropomorphic mammals have evolved to live in cities, drive cars and have mundane jobs based on their species (sloths are DNV workers, bunnies are traffic cops, foxes are con-men). It's a clever concept, added to the frictious dynamic between the two leads (Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman) and the trailers released so far have been utterly charming.

That all combines to make it Disney's most exciting original property coming this year.
