50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2016 - Ranked

46. The Purge 3

The sequel might not have been as great as the original, but there's no denying the fact that the idea of a single night of crime being allowed by the government still has a lot of potential. James DeMonaco and Frank Grillo are back as director and lead actor, and it would seem that the threequel will follow up on the insurrection arc suggested by the end of Purge: Anarchy.

It's a bit of a shame that we're moving further away from the tight home invasion thrills of the first movie that landed so well, but there's something enticing in the idea of a mash-up of that and a Hunger Games style rise against the government. And at least the narrative corner they've written themselves into means we won't end up with Saw-like over-extension of the premise.
