It's always a little bit worrying when anything is in production for 20 years: it usually suggests that several people have tried and failed to make anything like a fully formed film out of the general idea. But surely The Six Billion Dollar Man didn't need all that much conceptualising in the first place?

The "cleverly" updated adaptation of the classic Steve Austin TV show (Doctor Evil was clearly on the commissioning team) will see Mark Wahlberg teaming with English language newcomer Damián Szifron (replacing Wahlberg frequent collaborator Peter Berg) for a new take on the bionic man.

Let's be honest, with Wahlberg as Austin, it's unlikely to be a thinker, but he's a solid action lead and he's a far more charming watch than most might concede. Let's just hope they get enough new meat on the bones of the story so it doesn't end up going the same way as the attempted Bionic Woman remake series of 2007.
