37. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

2017 Movies
Disney

After pulling in billions of dollars, there was no way we'd seen the end of the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise or Johnny Depp's most famous, most self-parodying role as Captain Jack Sparrow. After an announcement in 2015, the rock star pirate lord is back searching for another McGuffin (this time the Trident Of Poseidon) to extend his legend while anther Ghost Pirate Villain (Javier Bardem's gnarly Salazar in place of Captain Barbosa seeks to end him).

It looks pretty familiar (and there's a similar reason Orlando Bloom's Will Turner returns), but then Disney know by now that Depp's charming swagger is enough to keep the brand more than afloat anyway, so innovation probably isn't top of their list of requirements.

Incidentally, this represents just the latest in a long line of Disney films to be given a wholly unnecessary retitle in some European territories. As if Dead Men Tell No Tales is somehow a worse title than Salazar's Revenge...
