It may have initially been beset by production issues, including the departures of both the director and the lead star, the latest addition to the Stephen King cinematic franchise is firmly incoming after more than 6 years in production.

The original TV adaptation is beloved by nostalgic fans, but it wasn't actually ever as great as its central performances (especially Tim Curry's wonderful Pennywise) and there was always room for another attempt at the story. Hopefully, Mama's Andrés Muschietti will be able to capture enough of the book's horror and offer a new version of Pennywise that can sit alongside the iconic original.

Let's hope it swerves comparisons to the Poltergeist remake too.
