50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2017 - Ranked

Prometheus might have been a mixed bag for some, but Ridley Scott's bridge movie between that and Alien is still a hugely exciting prospect, not least because it might answer some of the questions posed by that wrong-headed prequel.

Scott's magnificent return to top level form with The Martian also suggests there's still lots of life in the old dog yet, and the promise of a more all-out horror approach is a very welcome one. Expect the likes of Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride to see their team-mates killed off pretty quickly (including McBride, no doubt).

Hopefully the film will deliver on the promise of Prometheus (and it's great that Michael Fassbender is involved again) and actually explain where the walking symbol of phallic anxiety alien came from. Even without concrete answers, the promise of horror is a big selling point.
