50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2018 - Ranked
36. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
It's a slight shame that Miles Morales wasn't properly debuted in the MCU as an alternate foil to Peter Parker (though it might still happen with the seeding in Homecoming), but it's still great to see the other web-slinger getting his own movie thanks to writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Combining with the directing trio of Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and comedy writer Rodney Rothman, the LEGO Movie directors should ensure an infectious tone and lots of laughs.
Sony have been promising something new in the visuals department, with an agenda to really bring the relationship between the film and its comic book source to the forefront, and the first trailer suggested they've achieved something special in that respect.
Details on the story are a little sparse, but we know that it will deal with Morales taking up the Spidey mantle after the death of Peter Parker, and it seems pretty likely that we'll get to see the discovery that his uncle is secretly the villain Prowler (as well as his death) and another big villain reveal (since Liev Schrieber's character is currently unnamed). It's bound to be good, at the very least.
