50 Most Exciting Upcoming Comic Book Movies - Ranked

7. The Batman (Under The Red Hood?)

Status: Semi-confirmed Due: 2019? Key Players: Ben Affleck will reportedly direct and star, with DC writing legend Geoff Johns scripting. Jared Leto should return as the Joker, and Jeremy Irons will presumably come back as Alfred, as well as any supporting Bat-Family members who appear in Batman V Superman. What It€™s About: According to the latest, and very exciting rumour, the film will be based somewhat on Under The Red Hood, with Jason Todd returning €œfrom the dead€ as a new threat to Gotham and Bruce Wayne. The same source suggested that Night Wing will be involved (having been referenced in Batman V Superman), and that Red Hood will work in the shadows to pretend he€™s Batman and convince everyone he€™s a villain. Why We Should Care: Yes, it€™s slightly flawed (it should have been a continuation of Nolan€™s trilogy with John Blake revealed as Red Hood after failing as Batman), but the source is a great story and a good way to get around having to do yet another Batman origin story. Plus if it€™s directed by Affleck you can guarantee a brilliant performance from the man himself, since he€™s rarely better than under his own guidance. And if Leto€™s Joker is as provocatively good as he looks in Suicide Squad, seeing more of him in a more direct battle with Batman is a very big deal.
