6. X-Men: Apocalypse

Status: Shooting complete Due: May19th 2016 Key Players: The First Class cast (minus most of the old fellas, but with Hugh Jackman in) return, along with Bryan Singer. There€™s also a whole new arm to the cast with Oscar Isaac coming in as the titular villain, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm. The key thing here is going to be balance, clearly. What€™s It About: An ancient evil - the God-like mutant by the name of Apocalypse - rises, using his Four Horsemen (including Michael Fassbender€™s Magneto allegedly) to threaten the world in the 1980s. The X-Men, inevitably, meet the challenge with a whole new team of students under Professor X€™s wing, in what promises to be a showdown of epic proportions. Why We Should Care: The biggest selling point is the opportunity for Bryan Singer to make the trilogy ender he should have made with X-Men: The Last Stand. Given that the studio are promising it€™s the end of the current arc, we can expect emotional impact, high stakes and serious shockwaves. Spectacle will be at the forefront, since Apocalypse is an extinction event type of bad guy, and it will be intriguing to see a seismic shift in power that sees mutants in charge instead of humans or robots.
