The first time the Avengers truly came together to fight a cohesive unit was in the Battle of New York in The Avengers. That first sight of them standing united, in a circle, with the Chitauri causing havoc was outstanding - and definitely the best fanboy moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date.
