6 Aborted Superman Movies You Almost Got To See

4. Batman VS Superman

DC Comics fans will get to see their two favourite superheroes lock horns in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice lands, but the characters came close to sharing the screen back in 2002. That year, Wolfgang Petersen was approached to helm Batman vs Superman based on a screenplay by Batman & Robin and I Am Legend writer Akiva Goldsman. The story saw the heroes trading thunderous blows as a result of a Lex Luthor masterplan that used the Joker as a pawn to cause a rift between the super-powered pair. The setup involved a retired Bruce Wayne being driven back to his crimefighting ways after the Clown Prince of Crime murders his wife during their honeymoon. Presumably, the Bat vigilante would have gone at the Joker with a murderous rage inside, the kind of murderous range that clashes with Superman€™s by-the-book crimefighting methods. After clashing like titans for most of the movie, the pair would have eventually pooled their resources to take down their common enemies. And you don€™t have to be Brainiac to figure out that the same thing is probably going to happen in Dawn Of Justice. Warner Bros pulled the plug on Batman vs Superman in the ensuing years to focus on solo projects for each character, a decision that eventually brought us Christopher Nolan€™s acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy.
