6 Actors Who Nearly Died Filming 2014's Biggest Movies
5. Star Wars VII Delayed By Harrison Ford's Broken Ankle... World React Likes He Nearly Died
Okay, so Han Solo was never really in any mortal danger as a result of the much-publicised injury he suffered on the set of Star Wars Episode VII. But from the way the press went on about it you'd think that Harrison Ford was on his death bed, as opposed to just having a bit of a gammy ankle necessitating he hop around on crutches for a couple of weeks. The accident did almost have catastrophic consequences...to the film's release date. Ford, however, probably isn't going to die. Well, eventually he will, but not of this. We kid, but it was kind of a big deal at the time. Allegedly taking place at Pinewood Studios - and on the set of the Millenium Falcon, no less - Ford actually ended up being rushed to hospital after an incident involving a door, with doctors later confirming that he had indeed broken his ankle. According to reports the injury could have meant the actor missing out on eight weeks of filming, which would seriously affect production, what with him being Han Freakin' Solo and all. How do you have a Star War without Han Solo? A source at the time reassured that "the initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move things around but now we have had more time we can juggle things, bring some scenes forward and push others back. There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster. We are still confident the film can stay on schedule." Rumour has it, however, that the accident resulted in new Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac having his part beefed up considerably; so, not a literally fatal accident for Harrison Ford, but it may have an effect on his career...
