6 Actors Who Nearly Died Filming 2015's Biggest Movies
5. Megan Gale Almost Got Squashed By A Car (And Didn't Realise Until She Saw The Film) - Mad Max: Road Fury
Mad Max: Fury Road emerged as one of the best and most acclaimed films of the year, mostly due to its high-octane - and very practical - thrills. There's a reason you come away from Fury Road feeling like you just saw everything playing out for real, and that's because - for the most part - you really did. The stuntwork inherent to George Miller's belated reboot is frankly astounding in that "How the hell did they pull that off?!" kind of way. So it's no surprise to learn that there were near-death misses during the shoot, one of which saw actress Megan Gale - who plays Valkyrie - almost squashed by a car. Not that she realised how close she came until long after:
"There's one scene where I come off the bike and I've got to roll to the left, to the right, and back again, to dodge all this ongoing war party traffic. They were whizzing past me at a crazy speed and there was dust everywhere. OK, the cars are going to hit their marks, you hit your marks and we should be fine. When I watched the film back I was like, 'If was just a bit off, I would have been toast.'"
Accounts like this of the Mad Max: Fury Road shoot have us seriously wondering: what in God's name happened out in that desert?!
