6 Best & 6 Worst Comic Book Movie Performances Of 2016
3. Henry Cavill - Clark Kent (Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice)
Please do not misunderstand, this is not a slight at Henry Cavill's portrayal of Superman which, though not without its flaws, has real potential. Instead it is a slight at the supposed alter-ego, Clark Kent. Note the word 'supposed' because there is no conceivable difference between the two apart from one of them wearing glasses.
The very idea of the secret identity can be a bit ludicrous, Superman's especially, but how only Lex Luthor's vast intellect has worked out that this version of Clark Kent and Superman are one and the same is beyond comprehension.
Cavill's Clark Kent is a short-sighted Superman with no effort made to make the two seem like different people. Gone is the inherent duality of the character that makes him so interesting in the first place, replaced by a heroic hero who is so clearly a hero that everyone else in the vicinity who doesn't put two and two together and realise they're the same hero must have the IQ of a sponge.
Cavill's Superman could well be something great in future movies, but at the moment his Clark Kent is a non-performance.
