6 Best & 6 Worst Comic Book Movie Performances Of 2016
4. Stephen Amell - Casey Jones (TMNT: Out Of The Shadows)
Despite many of the elements of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (hereby known as TMNT2 because that is far too much typing) being an improvement on its predecessor, the addition of Stephen Amell as Casey Jones was not one of them
We have a great version of Jones from the 1990's in the form of Elias Koteas. He was a scruffy bad-ass with a penchant for using sports apparatus as weaponry and a definite fan favourite. The only similarity between that version and this is that they both have an unorthodox way of using hockey sticks.
Where he should be an angry hooligan, Amell's Casey Jones is a clean-cut, irritatingly chipper turd. Of course, some of this falls on the script's direction of the character but Amell could have at least made Jones likeable as opposed to the squealing jock with the sh*t-eating grin slapped permanently across his mug.
There is nothing likeable in his performance, even kids must find him annoying, so probably best he put the sports equipment down and stick to the arrows.
