6 Comedy Movies That Actually Turned Out To Be Super Depressing

5. Click (2006)

Click This will be fun: Adam Sandler has a remote that he can use to fast-forward through time! And there's a cute dog that he can mute with it, and he has a bad boss who he can swear at when the remote is on pause! Time for some laughs! Well, actually no. When you see an Adam Sandler trailer you usually think "mindless slapstick trash," but Click turns that completely on its head, and instead decides to make you question life itself for an hour and a half. So there's Adam Sandler with his crazy time remote having fun messing with his family and friends - and who's the friendly old man who gave it to him? Oh, it turns out to be the Angel of Death. Genuinely. As in: he reveals himself to Adam in a graveyard during one scene. After the initial shenanigans with the remote are over, the horrifying reality of fast-forwarding through time dawns on poor old Adam, making him lose touch with his young family, skip through all sexual or intimate encounters with his wife, and even miss the death of his own father (and also dog). It all comes to a head when Adam ends up skipping all the way to his final days in hospital as an old man. And then he dies. And then he wakes up! It was a dream! Seriously, they actually gave it that ending. So not only are you depressed that the comedy you wanted to watch made you want to kill yourself, but you're also questioning the point of movies as a whole.
