6 Fake Films Hidden In Your Favourite Movies

4. The Blues Brothers - See You Next Wednesday

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
Universal

The Blues Brothers is one of the most unpredictable and chaotic movies of its time, and no one could be blamed for missing a few background details amongst all the crazy.

During the chase that sees Jake and Elwood fleeing from both the real ‘Good Ole Boys’ and the cops, we catch a glance at a billboard advertising the film See You Next Wednesday.

Featuring a giant gorilla smashing up a city and a credit claiming it stars Donald Sutherland, the movie has potential to be great.

We see another hidden reference to the film later on, as the Nazi Ford Pinto chasing the Brothers launches off the highway, flying high above the city before crashing down through the road below.

On this humble street, the cinema a few feet from the hole left by the crash displays the title proudly outside.

As irrelevant as this may seem to some, the See You Next Wednesday references are actually part of a much bigger running gag.

Originally appearing mainly in the works of John Landis, nods to the trope can now be found in everything from Sharknado Five to 2001: A Space Odyssey.
