5. Jack Daniels - The Shining
The Shining is based on the book of the same name by Stephen King (who personally disapproved of this adaptation) and is one of the many contending films amongst crowds of fans of being one of the best horror films ever made. In the film Jack Torrance wonders astray into the overlooks Gold Room and takes a seat by the bar then becomes acquainted with the ghostly bartender named Lloyd. Jack orders a glass of bourbon on the rocks and Lloyd willingly complies, while Jack complains bitterly about his marriage. Many of you may have not noticed that Jack is served with the iconic brand Jack Daniels. Many argue that Jack Daniels is in fact a whiskey, a Tennessee whiskey to be precise, but while the product meets the criteria to be classified as bourbon, the company disregards this and markets the brand as whiskey in preference to being a bourbon. Jack Daniels Whiskey appears to be omnipresent like the ghostly guests in the Overlook Hotel with its presence everywhere in western culture, be that on the shelf in the bar and on advertisements and billboards being known for its square bottle and black label. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJVVGzEbJC0 While Jack Daniels makes an appearance in The Shining, it has had a major impact on culture. Notably singer Frank Sinatra was famously buried with a bottle of Jack Daniels Old Number 7 while Jack Daniels is Family Guys Brian Griffins€™ favourite whiskey. Based on its significant impact on culture and appearance in other films, TV episodes and song lyrics, it undeniably deserves a place on the list.
