3. Orange Whip - The Blues Brothers
Deemed by critics and fans alike at the time of its release in 1980, The Blue Brothers is now considered one of the best musical comedies ever made with becoming the ninth highest grossing musical of all time. The film then since has reached the status of a cult classic with being praised solely for its energy and humour. Developed from the characters from a musical sketch on Saturday Night Life, the film stars Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi with cameos from renowned blues musicians including Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. The story depicts the paroled brothers who take on a mission from god and seek to prevent the closure of their childhood catholic orphanage while being pursued by authorities. Not to overlook the fact that both sport the identical black shades and black and white suits that forms the now known iconic attire. The Orange Whip is made from a concoction of vodka and rum mixed with cream and orange juice. The cocktail encountered a substantial revival after its appearance in the film in which John Caddys police detective decides to watch the brothers and order a drink for himself and the accompanying uniformed state police officers by saying: Who wants an orange whip? Orange whip? Orange whip? Three orange whips!". This then went on to granting the drink massive popularity and a place on this list.
Fancy an Orange Whip: Pour 4 parts OJ, 1 part vodka, 1 part rum and 2 parts cream over ice cubes and stir.
