On paper, Martin Freeman's Arthur Dent costume in Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy should have been one of the most simple in movie history to put together. Stick him in a dressing gown with a towel under his arm and the transformation is complete.

But in reality, director Garth Jennings had a universe of trouble with the bathrobe and struggled to get it to look right against the movie's cosmic sets.

The only solution was to have some of the finest dressing gown fabric known to man flown in from Turkey and have it stitched to Freeman's getup on stage.

Adding import fees to the equation, the Dent costume was the most expensive piece of wardrobe used in Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - even more costly than Zaphod Beeblebrox's heads and Humma Kavula's eyes.
