5. The Prestige
Christopher Nolan's tale of dueling magicians was on my list last time, but was replaced by The Brothers Bloom at the last minute. So when I started making part two, I made sure to include it. Nolan is a pretty famous guy right now, but this film, which he made in between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is barely talked about. Maybe the movie was forgotten because it was sandwiched in between two of his Batfilms, but so was Inception, a massive success. Hopefully The Prestige will be discovered due to Nolan's popularity and will gain traction over the years. It certainly deserves to. Nolan is in total control the entire film, toying with the audience and wowing them with the final incredibly dark act. Both Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale give outstanding performances, and Michael Caine does his best work in years. Christopher Nolan pulled off a heck of a magic trick with this film, but the real trick was making it's audience disappear. Now it's about time they showed up.
