6 More Overlooked Films of the 2000s

2. In Bruges

This is the one film I hesitated putting on here the most. In Bruges has built up a following since its release in 2008, so if you criticize its inclusion on the list, I won't argue with you. But if one person who hasn't seen it sees it because of this list, then it's all worth it. In Bruges follows two hitmen who are sent to Bruges after one makes a horrible mistake. What follows is a dark, bloody, funny movie. Colin Farrell, Brendon Gleason, and Ralph Fiennes are all hilarious and do their best work to date. First time writer and director Martin McDonagh has a great style on the page and the screen, and starts what should be a promising career. In Bruges straddles the line between funny and bleak (very bleak) with ease, but despite some big laughs, this is not a film for the squeamish. This is, however, a film for people who want to see something great.

Jeremy Sollie hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
