6 Reasons A Deadpool Movie Should Definitely Happen

4. R-Rated Laughs

One of the major challenges facing the Deadpool project is the fact that by its very nature, it needs to be a hard-R rated, darkly comedic, fourth-wall shattering film. That€™s quite the combination of requirements. On the upside, there€™s no shortage of popular R-rated comedies to pave the way for a movie like Deadpool. In recent years, the adult comedy genre has seen an absolute boom in numbers and success. The beginning of the genre€™s current mainstream success can probably be traced back to movies like Superbad or the first film in the Hangover trilogy. Since then, we€™ve gotten movies like Horrible Bosses, two more Hangovers, and anything directed by Judd Apatow to continue the trend of successful comedies with pretty specifically adult audiences. A potential pitfall mentioned for any studio that takes on Deadpool is the challenge of marketing the film, because it wouldn€™t be able to be targeted at the usual teenage boy bracket. Let€™s be honest: in today€™s world (regardless of whether you think it€™s a good thing or not), when was the last time you saw an R-rating stop a teenager from seeing the movie they wanted to? Teenage boys will probably love the idea of Deadpool €“ and frankly, by the time he makes it to screens, the folks introduced to superheroes through The Avengers will probably be old enough that it doesn€™t matter. Point being, there€™s unquestionably a built-in audience for a Deadpool movie no matter which way you slice it.
