6 Reasons Why David Fincher's Spider-Man Movie Would Have Been Awesome

6. A Stand-Alone Film

Fincher recently directed The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, a film that while based on the first novel in a trilogy, is also a stand-alone story, with all loose ends tied up at the end. Super-hero films, particularly the first in a series, often feel like a set up for a franchise, which comes back to the point about origin stories. I feel if Fincher directed a Spider-Man film, it'd probably be the only one he'd do. another directors could come aboard and make sequels but Fincher's vision wouldn't merely be a jumpng off point for sequels. We may never see a Fincher directed Spider-Man movie...or a James Cameron directed one. But as long as the character of Spider-Man remains popular, new and talented directors can have the chance to tell exciting stories about the character. Let's just hope The Amazing Spider-Man is one of them.
