There is no excuse for some of the action scenes in this film; when Affleck meets Jennifer Garner there is an obscenely choreographed sequence which sees the blind lawyer fight Elektra, balancing precariously on small objects in a playground. She is essentially beating up a blind man, and the fight is so painful to watch due to its choreography, that you can almost immediately tell that it was designed to add pace to a slow segment of the film. However, in contrast to this scripted scene, there are a multitude of sequences that are genuinely good. In the first part of the film, Daredevil attacks a criminal resulting in the wrongdoer being sliced in two by a train; this gritty violence stands in stunning juxtaposition to the scene with Garner. Bullseye is crucial to many of these scenes; yes, some of the fighting sequences are hideously choreographed and gratuitous in their violence; empty explosions are prevalent, but the crux of the fight sequences can be pleasant; in a film where a blind lawyer fights a villain who has pinpoint precise throwing abilities, is it not implied that some creative license would need to be applied to reality?
