6 Saving Graces Of Ben Affleck's Daredevil

2. It Can Be Seen As A Parody

Our first introduction to the titular hero has him twirling his weaponry in an unnecessary fashion; there was nobody on the roof with him to be impressed by this, and there was no way it could be seen as intimidating. Yet, it is the first of the plethora of superhero clichés that this film strictly abided by. Bullseye is introduced to the audience in a dingy bar where he is playing darts; while it is a well recognised technique to introduce a leather clad villain in this way, the character looks evil enough to begin with- we only needed to see his forehead to establish that. If you watch Daredevil in this way it is enjoyable; the previously mentioned overly choreographed action sequences could be featured in a spoof or parody film, all that is missing is a joke or a gag. Daredevil€™s costume is another feature that factors into this viewing of the film; all that leather would surely be uncomfortable and impractical. The flaws that make this film bad are part of what can make it funny. Using an alternative angle to watch the film shows that the film has failed to target its audience successfully; but if you watch it with a light heart it is a remarkably good film.
