6 Simple Predictions For Guardians Of The Galaxy

1. The Start Of The "Marvel Cosmic Universe"

James Gunn delivered an interesting and enchanting idea when describing the Guardians of the Galaxy. He said: "We are starting Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is Marvel Cosmic. And we're doing exactly what they did with the first Iron Man film." There is some fascinating notes to be taken from this clever yet undemanding quote from Gunn. A Marvel Cosmic Universe, if seen the proper way from Gunn's description, is something that would accelerate Marvel Studios's overall gross to its max. Creating another separate, organic universe apart from the Cinematic Universe would definitely be a step in the right direction for Marvel; since Spider-Man has his own creative universe from now until 2018, and the Avengers have their own epic universe to thrive in, it would seem a tactical move for the Guardians of the Galaxy to be given their own, too. This cosmic universe, as the first prediction pointed out, could introduce a slew of new characters related to the Marvel universe that would breathe life into a universe detached from the current Cinematic Universe (at least for the time being). By creating a Cosmic Universe, it would also help back up the prediction of incorporating science fiction themes in its own design; taking place in the cosmos, this would help give it identity from the Spider-Man and Avengers. If, in fact, the Guardians of the Galaxy are the first entrants in this Cosmic Universe, with more characters possibly being fleshed out in the future, then Marvel would have constructed three living, breathing universes on their own accord. With the Guardians of the Galaxy landing later his year in August, no theory or prediction should be held back. Going off the words of James Gunn and the footage we've seen thus far, anything is possible in Marvel's most ambitious project to date. The Guardians may be a surprise release for Phase Two, but their release could see an increase of interest in Marvel and their best laid plans at creating a bigger, possibly separate, universe full of intrigue and expectancy.
