2. The Guardians & Avengers Appear Together In Phase Three
The thought of the Avengers becoming part of a bigger universe with additional teammates has always been a notion most thought possible. With Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver appearing in the Age of Ultron, the team grows in number and strength. But what about a consequent pairing of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy? It's possible in the grand scheme of things. Recapping what has already been mentioned, starting with Marvel expanding on their massive library of heroes and villains and interconnecting them carefully and feebly. The Guardians are on opposite ends of the spectrum as opposed to the Avengers, who built their base on Earth. The fact that both teams share the same universe through connected objects and events like the Infinity Gauntlet and its gems set a very broad and open playing field. If Thanos plays a role for both teams, and the Gauntlet is ultimately a tool of destruction later on, then a pairing of both teams is clearly plausible. The only question is when and where, and Phase Three of Marvel's plans seems the most likely. Marvel has already announced a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel for 2016, as part of Phase Three. The Avengers also look to share an undesignated slot sometime in Phase Three, but so far there is no confirmation on if the teams will fight alongside one another. Marvel Studios undoubtedly know what they're doing up to this point, setting a careful pace for how to unravel their collected franchises. If they really want to make the fans crawl with excitement, they'd look to the stars for a crossover film between the Avengers and Guardians. Whether it be during the insurgence of Thanos or something far more brooding, it would almost be crazy not to visualize crossover between the teams. Like setting Guardians in space, there is so much potential to be had in uniting the teams. The directions are limitless, and the merging of storylines could take clever and unique turns in the overall narrative. It all falls onto Marvel to see if it can be done. Quite frankly, it should be done. It's a massive gathering of heroes for the silver screen, with a ton of screen time needed for each hero, but it could work given the careful work Marvel has done so far with their properties.
