6 Things To Fear About Zac Efron In Star Wars 7

1. He's Zac Efron

Undoubtedly the main reason we should all be terrified of the prospect of Zac Efron potentially appearing in the new Star Wars movies is because of people like me. So many film viewers, like myself, have been so underwhelmed by the whole presence and output of Efron's filmography so far that it's hard not to bundle up each and every one of the factors we've already looked at and be immediately nervous about him possibly appearing in one of the most well loved movies series of all time. The world stands to be corrected, but so far Efron has proven himself to be little more than a mediocre actor of children's musicals and mind-numbingly awful romantic comedy movies. Yes, Efron is only 26 years old, and has all the time in the world to prove his critics wrong, and you never know, he could one day be held in the same regard as the likes of DiCaprio, but it just does not seem likely. He has been typecast as the squeaky-clean pretty boy, and thanks to his affiliation with Disney, there are droves of film fans who have already given him a handicap to overcome in winning anyone over with his performances. It may not be right, or even fair, but the mass perception of Efron is going to be one he'll need to work phenomenally hard at in order to change, but it can happen. For example, see Matthew McConaughey, who was seen as a laughing stock of the acting world for a good ten years of his career, constantly playing the ever-shirtless playboy, when suddenly roles like Killer Joe and The Wolf Of Wall Street came along, and he's now gaining recognition as a man of having genuine talent. So yes, the gauntlet has been laid for Efron, and whilst he is most definitely not anywhere near being an overwhelmingly popular choice for a role in the new Star Wars movies, that doesn't actually mean he'll be awful, should he get the part. Everything suggested here is merely speculation on what the filmmakers will do with him, but who is to say that he won't prove us all wrong and be guided correctly by Abrams and company? You never know, he could be this trilogy's Han Solo...but probably not. Do you have any unsettling fears about Zac Efron potentially joining the Star Wars cast? Maybe you're overjoyed at the possibility? Let us know in the comments section below.
