If the comparisons to Efron and Christensen as a Jedi are apparent enough, then those we can make for Efron and Christensen becoming a Sith are screamingly huge. As previously mentioned, Efron has the look of a clean cut, butter-wouldn't-melt goodie-two-shoes about him, and there are only two ways of dealing with that in movies: either he dies in a tragic and unfortunate manner whilst saving space puppies, or he totally flips out due to some traumatic incident and turns to the dark side. The latter is pretty much exactly what happened to Christensen in the prequels, albeit with the added factor that he played the most pansy version of a young Darth Vader anyone could ever possibly dare to conceive. Not to dismiss Efron's acting credentials with a total disregard, but the part of a Sith should always be taken by someone who has proven they can play an exaggerated, almost campy movie villain. For example, Christopher Lee was one of the few shining lights of the prequels, not only because he was playing a Sith Lord, but because he knew exactly how to be deeply evil in every way on screen. It's about presence; the intimidation of good, the sneaky and suspicious movements, and even right down to appearance, because every villain should just look like they're up to darkly things. Efron has not proven that he can do any of those things yet, and that is largely down to the various other factors already mentioned in this article. He's too clean cut to immediately strike you as a convincing villain, although a good performance could double the effect of a Sith if he manages to take us all by surprise. He's also too pretty - yes, I'm still not jealous - to play a villain in the Star Wars universe. The Emperor was disfigured horrifically to look like the ruler of all things nasty, Count Dooku had a Dracula cape, and even Christensen was mutilated and burned to a Sithy crisp to look the part. Naturally, that means Efron could see similar treatment as Anakin, but what would be the point of revisiting ground that has already been tread in that manner?
