Ride Along 2 recently hit cinemas, so now is as good a time as any to check out the original. Of course, it doesn't matter in what order you watch them, the premise for both films is the same - A grumpy cop (Ice Cube), meets overly simple future Brother-in-law (Kevin Hart), and takes him out on duty to scare him silly. It'll never be the most challenging 100 minutes of your life, but it won't look out of place in your Buddy Cop Movie collection either, ably re-treading ground first broken in films like Bad Boys, 48 Hours, Tango & Cash and the lesser-remembered Red Heat, starring Arnold Schwazengger and John Belushi. Ride Along's cast is bolstered by Hollywood heavyweight Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo, and the guy whose face you always remember but name you always forget, Bruce McGill, who plays a hard-nosed lieutenant. Buddy up for a ride, as cop comedy Ride Along hits Netflix on February 29th.
