Budding podcasters, here's proof that recording sketches in your bedroom can pay off. In the late-nineties, comedian Scott Aukerman was spotted at the LA Comedy Store by Bob Odenkirk, who was so impressed he hired him to work on Mr. Show. A decade or so later, Aukerman helped create a certain cult talk show called Behind Two Ferns, the one starring Zack Galifianakis and a couple of pot plants. Turning his hand to podcasting in 2009, it wasn't long before Comedy Bang! Bang! got picked up for television, and it very much follows in that surreal talk show mode. Look out for the big-haired Reggie Watts, who was Aukerman's co-host and bandleader until James Corden poached him for his US late night talk show during season four, which meant for season five, he was replaced by comedy legend Weird Al Yankovic. Interestingly, Weird Al also played the same role in the original podcast, and has a writing credit on the new theme tune. Ready, Aim... Fire. Comedy Bang! Bang! shoots onto Netflix on February 29th.
