6 Things New To Netflix This Week (Jan 25)

An epic crime drama, a huge horror remake and the making of another murderer.

As Britain basks in the winter Sun, Netflix and Chill has never been more appropriate Stateside. Last week, the Eastern Seaboard was effectively snowed in which proved to be good news for Netflix, who saw millions of Americans trapped at home with nothing but their content for company until the ice melts. What if the increased consumption of streaming services contributes to global warming? And what if the effects of climate change positively impact on a company's share price? Definitely no conspiracy theory there. There are no signs of the blizzard heading here to Blighty, so it looks like you'll need to find another way to get the most from your Netflix. Luckily, if global warming is as issue that pricks your conscience, then get ready to binge-watch one of the BBC's finest eco-documentaries. Beyond that, there's plenty of horror, including a classic rebooted for the 21st century, and the fourth instalment in a successful film franchise that doubles as its own prequel. Add to that the true story of a mass murderer from the 1920s, and a film so inexplicably overlooked at the Academy Awards over 30 years ago, that it would be a crime for you not to watch it. If horror and drama aren't your thing then there's always season six of RuPaul's Drag Race, which is arguably a scarier prospect, as another heavyweight week on Netflix begins.
