6. Were Getting An Origin Story
https://twitter.com/salondelmal/status/664449780106575872 There was a bit of uncertainty before Cumberbatch was officially announced to be playing the lead role as to whether or not Doctor Strange would be an origin story or if the sorcerer supreme would simply be dropped into the MCU fully formed an in possession of his entire arsenal of mystical powers. The set photos confirm that we are indeed going to see how an arrogant, selfish surgeon loses the use of his ruined hands after a car accident and seeks to have them restored by the power of an ancient mystic in the himalayas, later learning how to utilise the mystic arts himself. In the photos, Cumberbatch wears bandages and less severe coverings, so we can assume that this part of the story will be adapted wholesale The pictures of a thoroughly dishevelled looking Cumberbatch also suggest that well see Strange without his powers for a while before learning the ropes, although just how the film will be structured is unknown. It could be that Stranges pilgrimage forms the movies first act, much like Bruce Waynes trip to see the League of Shadows in Batman Begins, or they could appear as a flashback after weve seen the good doctor display some of his more trippy powers.
