Doctor Strange Set Photos: 6 Things We Can Learn

1. Stephen Strange Starts In A Dark Place

https://twitter.com/ferwen/status/664267351446134784 Anyone who has done a film or media studies course over the years will know that a character growing a beard is a sign of internal turmoil. Apparently more hirsute characters just aren€™t capable of feeling joy, especially when they€™ve really let themselves go and grown a level 10 hobo beard to pick their food out of at all hours of the day and night. Benedict Cumberbatch is sporting such a beard in our first look at Doctor Strange. Sure he€™s been travelling across the globe in pilgrimage, but that€™s very rarely an excuse for poor grooming as far as movie subtext goes. Still, he is trying to get his hands fixed so that he can return to work and make tons of money again so it€™s no wonder he€™s feeling a little down in the mouth. The Ancient One only agrees to help Strange after seeing him renounce his selflessness, healing his hands and teaching him to wield magic before he heads back over to the United States. Once free of his worse personality traits, and infused with a new purpose, we€™ll probably see Benedict reach for the clippers and style himself the more traditional goatee that we all know, love and associate with the character.
